A 19-year-old man is facing three charges – including one of attempted murder – after incidents in the city on Wednesday and Thursday.
Jayshree Isiah Joel Apooch was charged Thursday with attempted murder in connection with a stabbing that occurred in the 300 block of Rae Street on Wednesday afternoon. He also was charged with assault with a weapon for an attempted stabbing that occurred in the 600 block of 4th Avenue East on Thursday morning.
Apooch also is charged with possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to public peace. He’s to make his first court appearance Friday morning.
The stabbing occurred just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday, when officers responded to a report of an injured man on Rae Street. They found a 48-year-old man, who was transported by paramedics to hospital with serious injuries.
Then, on Thursday at about 6:25 a.m., police were dispatched to 4th Avenue after receiving a report of a man who had tried to stab a 56-year-old man. The suspect ran off. Police located and arrested a man they believe was involved near Ross Avenue and Park Street.
The investigation determined Apooch was involved in both incidents, leading to the three charges.
