Thanks to a hard push for donations, all of the students on the Thom Collegiate robotics team will be able to go to the FIRST world robotics championship in Houston.
The team unexpectedly placed second at the regional competition in Calgary last week, and figured out it would need several thousand dollars to get the team to Houston for the next step.
Thanks to a GoFundMe page and a plea for donations on social media, the team had enough cash as of Friday morning to send all of the students to the competition.
Though the GoFundMe page hadn’t made its $10,000 goal, an update was posted saying that, thanks to all the generous donations, the team would be able to make it to the competition. It’s being held in Houston, starting Wednesday.
