Please don’t let ’em play in Game 7.
It happens a lot when, all of a sudden, the whistles get put away when it matters the most. The officials feel in hockey that they don’t want to dictate the outcome of the game.
But please, when there is a hold, call it. When there is a hook, give him two minutes.
Instead we get 60 minutes where the only penalty called is when a defenceman accidentally flips the puck over the glass. That is the worst penalty in hockey but seems to be the only one called unless someone slashes a stick in half — and sometimes that call doesn’t get made.
The Leafs, Bruins, Sharks and Golden Knights tonight deserve to have a properly officiated game, meaning there should be three or four power-play chances per side.
Anything less and the officials actually will dictate the outcome of the game by letting hooks and holds impact the speed of some of the most threatening players.
Let ’em play by giving them the same standard of officiating they got for the first 88 games of the year.
