A Regina taxi driver was taken to hospital early Saturday after he allegedly was attacked by a woman and man in North Central.
According to the Regina Police Service, the cab picked up the woman on the 1100 block of Garnet Street. She asked to be dropped off in a back alley a block away, but when the cab stopped in the alley, a man approached and started to hit the taxi with an object.
It was then, the police say, that the woman tried to take the driver’s money. The taxi driver began to drive away while fighting with the woman.
Twelve blocks later at Albert Street and Fifth Avenue, the woman bit the driver and pulled a knife on him, but the driver was able to get the weapon away from her. The woman took off and police were called to a service station in the 26oo block of Seventh Avenue to meet the cabbie.
The taxi driver was taken to hospital to have his injuries looked at, but there isn’t any further word on his condition.
Police were not able to find the suspects and are asking the public for help. Anyone with information about the incident should contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
