Darryl Morris has owned the Reddi Mart in Kerrobert for more than 32 years and had never had to deal with a robbery.
But that changed Good Friday when robbers rammed the front of his store with a pickup truck and made off with cigarettes and Gatorade at 4:30 a.m.
“It’s not something we normally deal with out here but whatever; it’s too bad we have to deal with it now,” said Morris. “People were upset about having to deal with these sort of things in our community now.”
Despite the damage done to the Reddi Mart, it was able to open later that day after workers and community members came and helped with the cleanup.
One man even made and donated a door for the store to use for the time being.
“We just filled it in and built it in with some plywood and stuff,” Morris said. “It looks a little wild yet, but it’s adequate and secure right now.”
Morris said police are still searching for the suspects. The store posted photos and videos of the robbery to its Facebook page.
