The first round of the NHL playoffs was crazy. Upsets everywhere, but the storylines for Round 2 are a little lacking.
There isn’t one but four or five Cinderella stories. And the matchups in Round 2 don’t bring with them headline material.
So let’s check out the NBA.
Milwaukee versus Boston. Toronto versus Philadelphia. Golden State likely advances to take on Houston. Portland against either San Antonio or Denver has intrigue as well.
Not a lot of upsets, just top teams with big stars going head to head.
Ovechkin, Crosby, McDavid, Matthews, Stamkos, Kucherov and Gaudreau are all out in the NHL. Kawhi Leonard, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kyrie Irving and James Harden are all still alive in the NBA.
While upsets are fun in the first round, I’m way more interested in the NBA’s Round 2 than the NHL.
Sure, you can pick the Blues with the most Canadians in the NHL, or maybe the eighth seeds of Columbus or Colorado. But if you need to get behind a Canadian team, why not the Raptors?
