Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the southwest corner of Saskatchewan Friday evening.
The showers and possible thunderstorms forecast for Saturday morning are expected to gradually turn to wet snow by late afternoon.
By Saturday night, Environment Canada expects the snow to begin to accumulate with the heaviest amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres falling over the Kindersley, Outlook and Leader areas.
The snow will then shift to the southeast on Sunday, with similar amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres forecast to fall over areas south of the Trans-Canada Highway.
By late Sunday, the weather office expects total snowfall accumulations in some areas to exceed 30 centimetres.
Environment Canada anticipates the heavy wet snow and strong northeasterly winds to produce poor visibilities and possible blizzard conditions.
The snow and strong winds are forecast to taper off Sunday night.
