Snow in Saskatchewan.
It’s not unusual, even this late in April, while the Stanley Cup playoffs unfold with the normal number of legitimate Canadian contenders — zero.
Most of us still haven’t taken off our winter tires, so during the weekend’s snowstorm we pretended we were intelligent instead of lazy. And it was almost time to check our sprinklers, to see how many metal faucets froze and cracked during the coldest winter many of us remember. I’ll get on that later this week, after I file my income tax.
The Toronto Blue Jays are apparently playing baseball again, with some guy with a somewhat familiar name playing third base. And it’s time to pay attention to the Toronto Raptors, just in case Kawhi Leonard can lead them further in the NBA playoffs than DeMar DeRozan.
In Saskatchewan, we’ll recover from this storm long before the Roughriders open training camp, which might be delayed because of a CFL labour dispute.
Farms need the moisture and hopefully the cold weather doesn’t hurt the golf courses. Which reminds me, I’d better cancel today’s tee time.
