Drivers may see extra police patrolling across southwestern Saskatchewan this weekend.
A Joint Forces Operation (JFO) is underway in the Swift Current, Maple Creek, Shaunavon, Kyle and surrounding communities. It’s led by the Swift Current Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan involving RCMP along with police from Regina and Moose Jaw.
Police are keeping an eye open for everything from speeding to distracted and impaired driving. They’re also enforcing seatbelt use and checking for unlicensed and suspended drivers.
Drivers are reminded to slow to 60 kilometres per hour when passing an officer who is pulled over with their lights flashing. Failing to do so could result in a $170 fine.
