A man is in police custody and awaiting charges after he allegedly threatened a woman with a knife Tuesday night and police members Tasered him.
The incident happened at about 11:15 p.m. in North Central, on the 1400 block of Wascana Street.
When police members arrived at a home on the street, “they encountered the male threatening an adult female with a knife. Police members began to negotiate with him, however the male was non-compliant and refused to drop the knife,” a news release said.
Members “perceived the immediate need for control, due to a high risk of death or serious bodily harm, prompting one officer to deploy the CEW (Taser),” the release said.
The man dropped the knife and police arrested him.
The woman didn’t suffer any injuries; the man was treated by EMS crew members.
The news release said police are investigating the incident.
