A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Regina late Monday.
According to the Regina Police Service, officers received a report of a robbery in progress at a business in the 1800 block of Ninth Avenue North just before midnight.
Officers who arrived on the scene met a clerk who had been robbed at gunpoint by a male suspect wearing a mask. After getting a clothing description from the victim and from witnesses, officers began a search of the area with the assistance of a canine unit.
The dog and its handler located two suspects, one of whom was bitten by the dog in the course of the arrest.
A backpack containing cash and items from the store was recovered, as was a firearm believed to have been used in the robbery.
One of the males was released, while the other was arrested and charged.
The teen, who can’t be named under the terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, appeared in Youth Court on Tuesday.
