There is no position in football more scrutinized than quarterback.
And in Saskatchewan, that means Zach Collaros is the most-watched player going into the 2019 season.
I’ve heard it all this off-season. From his concussions to his confidence to his mechanics and his arm strength, there are not a lot of people in Saskatchewan who believe in Zach other than Zach himself, his coaches and his general manager.
So what are you all missing that they see?
They see an accurate passer who takes a game plan and tries to execute it to his best ability. Last year there were missed assignments, rookie receivers running wrong routes and an overall organizational philosophy to reduce risk in turning over the football.
But that’s why I’m more interested in what offensive co-ordinator Stephen McAdoo and head coach Craig Dickenson have in store for you this season.
Will they bring back the gunslinger that Kent Austin groomed to be one of the most prolific passers in the league in 2014 and 2015?
Don’t expect that big of a philosophical switch, but everyone involved seems to know 2019 will dictate the future of both McAdoo and Collaros with the Roughriders.
