The City of Moose Jaw has issued a fire ban that will be in effect until further notice.
It has been called to reduce the risk of fire caused by extremely dry and windy conditions.
During the ban, residents will not be allowed to use fire pits, outdoor fireplaces or anything that involves an open flame.
Propane barbecues and fireplaces will still be permitted.
The city is also reminding residents to dispose of their cigarettes properly and that fireworks are not allowed without a permit.
There aren’t any provincial fire bans in Saskatchewan, but there are nearly 100 municipal fire bans in effect.
According to the provincial government, there are fire bans in place in 71 rural municipalities, 14 villages, six towns, three resort villages and one organized hamlet. The list of those locales can be found here.
