Three men are in custody following a large-scale search by police officers in communities around Regina.
In a media release Thursday, the RCMP said the search at times involved more than 30 officers. The suspects were believed to be armed and dangerous.
Members of the Southey, Fort Qu’Appelle, Punnichy, Indian Head and White Butte detachments were joined by officers from the Saskatchewan RCMP General Investigation Section, the Crime Reduction Team, Police Dog Services, the Major Crimes Section, Major Case Management, Air Services, the Protection and Response Team, Combined Traffic Services and the Regina Police Service.
The search, which started Wednesday afternoon, covered Balgonie, Southey, the Muscowpetung First Nation, the Piapot First Nation and surrounding areas.
The officers were searching for three suspects in relation to a number of violent incidents, including an assault with a firearm that occurred Wednesday in the area covered by the Punnichy RCMP detachment.
The investigation is continuing.
