Convicted sex offender moving into Regina neighbourhood

The Regina Police Service issued a public advisory Friday about a convicted sex offender who is deemed to be a high risk to reoffend.

Jason Paul Thorne, 42, is to move into a residence in Regina’s Heritage neighbourhood that will supervise and monitor his activities. He’s currently on a statutory release and is slated to resume his long-term supervision on Sept. 9.

Thorne is described as Indigenous, 5-foot-9 and approximately 170 pounds, with a medium build, brown eyes and black hair.

In the advisory, the police say Thorne “poses a high risk for acts of sexual offending against female children.”

Thorne faces a number of conditions during his release, including staying away from places where children under the age of 18 are likely to gather, such as schools, parks, swimming pools and recreational centres unless accompanied by an adult.
