A 41-year-old Florida man is facing charges after he tried to cross the Canada-U.S. border at North Portal with 12 undeclared firearms and other undeclared items.
In a media release issued Wednesday, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said the man was stopped at the border Sunday for what the CBSA called a “secondary examination.”
A search of the man’s cargo van turned up seven non-restricted long guns, six overcapacity magazines, a prohibited .22-calibre revolver, a prohibited 9-millimetre pistol, a prohibited .38-calibre revolver, a restricted 9mm pistol, a restricted semi-automatic carbine rifle, a prohibited stun gun, and a prohibited Taser.
The man faces three charges under the Customs Act. He’s to appear in Regina Provincial Court on Thursday.
