A 32-year-old Regina man is facing a charge of attempted murder after a stabbing early Wednesday in North Central.
According to the Regina Police Service, the incident ended with officers using a Taser to take Isidore Duane Favel into custody.
In a media release, the police said officers were sent to a home in the 1200 block of Athol Street at about 4:50 a.m., for a weapons-related call.
Police say a man assaulted a 24-year-old woman with a bladed weapon, causing serious injuries. The suspect also allegedly lunged at another resident with the weapon, but no injuries resulted.
The suspect left the house before officers arrived. The woman who had been injured was taken to hospital by paramedics.
Officers searched the area and found the suspect in the 1400 block of Wascana Street. When he refused their demands to lay on the ground, the officers used a Taser while arresting him.
Favel is charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon and failure to comply with a probation order. He’s to appear in court Thursday.
