Saskatchewan’s population is continuing its upward trend.
According to numbers released Wednesday by Statistics Canada, the number of people living in the province increased by 10,295 people in the past year and by 708 people in the past quarter.
It’s the 52nd straight quarter that the population has gone up. In that time, the population of the province has grown by 176,894 people.
As of April 1, there were 1,169,131 residents in the province.
According to Statistics Canada, the population growth was driven by a net international migration of 2,383 and a natural increase (births minus deaths) of 1,265. That was partially offset by 2,940 people leaving Saskatchewan for other provinces.
