More than 30,000 people are expected to attend Canada’s Farm Progress Show, which kicks off in Regina on Wednesday.
The three-day event is a chance for dealers, suppliers and producers to make business connections, but also for the public to learn more about the farming world.
New this year is the Innovations Pavilion at the International Trade Centre, where new and emerging technology will be on display. That’s where you’ll find the AgTech Challenge, where competitors will build an AgTech startup in 24 hours and pitch their product to judges for a chance to win $4,000 in prizes.
The Farm Progress Show features more than 500 exhibitors plus another 100 antique exhibitors. The antique tractors and trucks display returns, along with the tractor pull held every day at 2:30 p.m. in Lot B.
Each day is themed, starting with Innovation Day on Wednesday, Young Farmers’ Day on Thursday and Women in Ag Day on Friday.
There are seminars and speeches for all ages, including an event on Wednesday with Zach Johnson, known as MN Millennial Farmer on YouTube; he has more than 280,000 followers.
On Thursday, Curtis Weber shares his story of a near-fatal workplace incident of surviving an electrical surge of 14,000 volts.
There is also a daily Retiring Farmer Seminar to help farming families in reducing taxation to fund their retirement and the third-annual Empowering Women in Ag conference on Friday.
