My apologies, but here is something a little heavier on this Wednesday.
To this day I have a tough time hearing about, seeing images of, or talking about the Humboldt Broncos bus crash. I did not know one person of the 29 who were either lost or had their lives altered forever. After the crash, and after his passing, we got to know more about Broncos head coach Darcy Haugan, who was an incredible mentor to many.
Last Friday, I was among many who attended the celebration of life for 26-year-old Justin Filteau, who perished in a June 1 plane crash. I knew Justin, but after the crash I got to know more about his love for his family, love of people, love of coaching football and love of judo. He was a positive person to be around.
Life, and less importantly sports, is full of Darcy Haugans and Justin Filteaus — people who mentor and love. Be sure to take in all that those people have to offer while they are in our midst.
