Thousands of people took in the Canada Day festivities at Wascana Park Monday.
Food trucks , vendors and bouncy castles crowded into the park, which also featured concert stages, a cultural village, the Plywood Cup boat building race and the Western Canada’s Strongest Man competition.
The food seemed to be the biggest hit among kids, with mini doughnuts being a fan-favourite.
Those celebrating said they were happy to have a day off work, enjoy the nice weather and celebrate Canada.
The Western Canadian Strongman Competition was also a popular hit, as crowds gathered to watch participants pull a massive truck in front of the legislature.
Ken Staruiala cheered on his grandson who was participating in the competition, which also included keg throwing.
“The crowd here is great, it’s a wonderful day. You can’t expect anything more,” he said.
The park also featured a cultural stage, where cultures from around the world were highlighted to represent Canada’s mosaic.
The festivities continued, concluding with fireworks late Monday night.
