A 26-year-old Regina man is facing a number of charges — including attempted murder — in connection with a series of random drive-by shootings that happened in the city on May 21.
Donnelly Edward Nanaquatung of Regina is facing five charges of attempted murder using a firearm, three charges of pointing a firearm, one charge of assault with a weapon and one charge of armed robbery using a firearm. He also faces three charges of wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence.
Nanaquatung was arrested Tuesday morning at the Regina Correctional Centre, where he already was in custody for his role in another crime spree.
He appeared in Regina Provincial Court on Wednesday morning.
The charges laid Wednesday stem from a series of events that occurred late in the evening on May 21, when the Regina Police Service received five gun calls within half an hour.
Three men were shot in three of those incidents. On two other occasions, police were told a pickup truck pulled up beside people and a weapon was pointed at the alleged victims.
