The Regina Police Service has determined that an alleged abduction in the city in early June never happened.
In a media release Thursday, the police said its investigation into the June 6 event has found that the 17-year-old boy made up the whole incident. He won’t be charged, however.
“Investigators did not find evidence to suggest the original report was made out of any criminal intention, therefore the matter has been concluded,” the release read.
The initial report was made June 6.
The boy told police he and another teen had been forced into a car at gunpoint by a man and a woman and driven out of town. The 17-year-old said he and the other boy escaped at that point and managed to get back to the city.
A week after the initial report, the police said their investigation had found that there wasn’t a second boy. Then, on Thursday, they said investigators had found that evidence “contradicted, and eventually dispelled, the claims made in the initial report.”
