There were more people working in Saskatchewan in June than ever before, according to Statistics Canada.
A report released Friday shows that the province set an all-time record for employment last month at 592,900 jobs. There also were record highs set in working-age population (888,900) and labour force (621,400).
The number of employed people in the province in June increased by 2,500 over May and by 9,200 over June of 2018. That marked the 11th straight month of year-over-year job increases.
According to Statistics Canada, the province’s unemployment rate dropped to 5.1 per cent in June, down from 6.2 per cent in June of 2018.
Saskatchewan had the third-lowest unemployment rate in Canada. The national unemployment rate in June was 5.5 per cent.
Regina’s employment numbers increased by 4,900 over June of 2018, an increase of 3.5 per cent. Saskatoon’s job numbers grew by 4,100 (2.3 per cent) year over year.
