Cody Fajardo needs another chance.
Heck, he needs several more chances as the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ starting quarterback. Fajardo was confused and inefficient against the Calgary Stampeders, throwing for only 89 yards with two interceptions in a 27-point shellacking, while Stamps quarterback Nick Arbuckle was making his first CFL start.
Arbuckle looked great, but he will certainly falter some time during his career, just as Fajardo did. No quarterback steps into an offence and performs flawlessly game after game. Fajardo had two strong games before struggling badly against Calgary.
By the fourth quarter, Saskatchewan’s coaches replaced Fajardo with rookie Isaac Harker. That wasn’t a good move. Fajardoo apparently convinced the Roughriders he’s capable of replacing injured starter Zach Collaros, but now it looks like he no longer has the team’s confidence. Successful teams have unwavering faith in their starting quarterbacks, so the Riders will have to reiterate that confidence when they return from their bye week.
