8:30 – The Council of the Federation continues today as provincial and territorial leaders meet in Saskatoon. Many of the conservative premiers are working to present a united front against the federal carbon tax, with Quebec Premier Francois Legault recently affirming his province’s support in Saskatchewan’s fight against the tax. New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs recently cancelled his plans to launch a separate legal challenge against the federal carbon pricing scheme, instead throwing his province’s full support behind Saskatchewan’s challenge as it heads to the Supreme Court of Canada. Higgs joins John now to discuss the Council of the Federation, including the fight against the carbon tax, interprovincial trade, energy policy, and more.

10:00 – We regularly sit down with the police chiefs from Saskatoon and Regina, and we thought it would be a good idea to do the same with the head of Saskatchewan’s RCMP. Mark Fisher, commanding officer for the RCMP in Saskatchewan, joins John in our studio to talk about issues including rural crime, resource issues, divisional priorities, the RCMP reconciliation strategy, and how they respond to incidents where an officer’s behavior is questioned. 11:00 – The province is holding a free fishing weekend this Saturday and Sunday, which means it’s an opportunity for many to try the sport for the first time. Jason Matity is an expert on Saskatchewan fishing, and in addition to operating GetFishing.ca along with his brother since 2013, Matity will be hosting several “Learn to Fish” sessions around the province to get people outside fishing for the first time.
