There were lots of smashed windshields in the province after the weekend’s storms brought hail the size of ping pong or tennis balls.
People have up to two years to file a claim but SGI communications manager Tyler McMurchy’s advice is not to wait.
“We strongly recommend reporting your claim as soon as possible to avoid any further damage to the vehicle and any dispute over the amount of damage caused by the storm event,” McMurchy said during Monday’s Greg Morgan Morning Show.
When making a claim, people can do so over the phone or online.
McMurchy recommends filing electronically because that means any SGI worker in the province can process the claim.
“We have many claims centres and many adjusters throughout the province, so the entire company can kind of pull together in this case,” McMurchy said.
“We know that, in the event of people being out at the lake or being at Craven and maybe experiencing some damage, they’ll probably be dealing with people from our claims centres throughout the province.”
With either method, he said callers should make sure they have their driver’s licence and registration handy. If they have an auto package, they should be prepared to provide the company name and policy.
