Opportunity knocks for the Riders and B.C. Lions over the next two weeks. An opportunity to take a jump in the standings and knock a western opponent into a deeper hole than what they’re currently in.
The teams both have one win; with Montreal’s two wins, all of a sudden a fourth-place finish and a crossover may not be in the cards this season, so getting to third place is the only way to guarantee a playoff spot.
Yes, it’s early, and by no means are we in must-win territory, but desperation has to start increasing for both the Lions and the Riders.
The Riders have been a little more promising than the Lions. Look at the Riders huge win over Toronto, compared to B.C.’s rouge for the win victory two weeks ago.
But it also says something about the quality of these teams that they’ve only defeated Toronto. And if a team does sweep this home-and-home set, they still have to prove they can win against Calgary or Winnipeg, before we take them too seriously.
