The Saskatchewan Roughriders made a deal Monday, acquiring international wide receiver Kenny Stafford from the Edmonton Eskimos in exchange for international receiver and returner Christion Jones.
Stafford comes to the Riders in his seventh year in the CFL. The six-foot-three inch wide out previously played with Calgary, Montreal and Edmonton.
The 29-year old has played in 70 games in that span, amassing 2,626 receiving yards and 18 career touchdowns.
This season, Stafford has played in all seven games for the Eskimos, with 30 receptions, 366 yards and two touchdown receptions.
Stafford won a Grey Cup with Edmonton in 2015.
Christion Jones, who goes the other way for the Riders, was mainly a returner for the green and white.
In his three years with the team, he had three punt returns for touchdowns, and a total of 2,734 yards returning a total of 165 missed field goals, kickoffs, and punts.
The Riders also announced the release of international receiver K.D. Cannon from the practice roster, and the addition of national linebacker Layne Hull.
Hull joins the practice roster after completing his collegiate career with the University of Regina Rams last season.
In 2018, the Willowbrook, Sask. product had 39 total tackles, a half sack, and an interception with the Rams.
Previously, Hull was a member of the Okaganan Sun of the Canadian Junior Football League, helping them win the B.C. conference in 2015 and earning All-Canadian honours in 2016.
Saskatchewan will look to extend its two-game winning streak this week in Montreal on Friday, when they take on the Alouettes at 5 p.m.
