Just a few more sleeps remain until Garth Brooks rocks Regina.
According to Evraz Place CEO Tim Reid, the stage is good to go.
“Garth’s team has been doing an amazing job,” Reid said during The Greg Morgan Morning Show on Wednesday. “Most people don’t realize (that) setup started after the fireworks at the fair.
“They were loading in trucks, (the) decking’s down, (the) stage is up and we’re ready for a heck of a party this weekend.”
Shows are set for Friday and Saturday at Mosaic Stadium.
Reid expanded on the security protocol, specifically the policy requiring belongings to be kept in clear bags.
He said while Regina is a safe place, that isn’t the case elsewhere in the world where major headliners play.
“(It’s) something that we in Regina are going to have to start thinking about anyways because it’s just a matter of time before that becomes common practice,” he said, adding it’s standard procedure at stadiums across North America.
Besides clear bags, small purses that are wallet-sized will be permitted.
“We’re going to take it one step further when we go into the NHL Heritage Classic this fall when they’re going to bring in metal detectors on top of that because that’s an NHL policy,” Reid said.
“For those people who are struggling with it, the reality is this is quite common everywhere else and it’s really about public safety.”
