8:30 – On Friday, Saskatchewan RCMP announced a seventh person was charged in connection to the homicide of Tiki Laverdiere, an Edmonton woman who went missing in North Battleford in early May. Laverdiere’s remains were discovered last month, and the RCMP have since arrested six people, charging them variously with murder, kidnapping, acting as an accessory to murder after the fact, and interfering with human remains. A Canada-wide warrant has also been issued for Nikita Sandra Cook, a 31-year-old woman from Onion Lake Cree Nation, who’s also charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping. Tyler Marr, news director for CJNB and battlefordsNOW.com, has been following the case closely. He joins John now to recap what we know so far about the victim and her alleged killers.

9:00 – The Hour of the Big Stories… Open Session
10:00 – Over the past weeks we’ve covered the case of Jessica Yaniv, formerly Jonathan Yaniv, a transgender woman who’s made numerous human rights complaints against estheticians who refused to wax her male genitals. While some have argued that Yaniv should not be denied service due to her male body parts, others have accused her of specifically targeting immigrant estheticians who work out of their homes and dragging them before the human rights tribunal if they’re uncomfortable with performing the service. Mandy Challis, a Regina-based esthetician, was contacted by Yaniv through Facebook some time ago, and from their interaction she believes Yaniv was not interested in booking the service at all – she says Yaniv was looking for businesses to ruin. Challis joins John now to discuss her experience with Yaniv.
