An alleged joyride in a stolen truck ended in the arrests of two teenage girls Thursday.
The girls, aged 13 and 14, appeared in Youth Court on Thursday afternoon. They can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
According to the Regina Police Service, the incident occurred in the city between 4:20 a.m. and 5:42 a.m. A grey pickup truck was involved in numerous traffic infractions, got into a hit-and-run collision at Dewdney Avenue and Robinson Street that sent two people to hospital, and got into a less-serious collision at Broad Street and Broadway Avenue.
The girls got out of the truck after the latter crash and were held by witnesses until police arrived.
The 13-year-old is charged with two counts each of dangerous driving causing bodily harm and failure to stop after an accident that resulted in bodily harm, and one count each of impaired driving, driving with a blood-alcohol content above .08, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and dangerous driving.
The 14-year-old was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and failing to comply with an undertaking.
