A 45-year-old man from Kelliher is facing charges for allegedly making racist and threatening comments on a social media platform — all while claiming to be an RCMP officer.
Patrick Kuhns was arrested Thursday and was charged with uttering threats and impersonating a peace officer.
The Melville RCMP received complaints on Thursday about posts made on Facebook.
Screenshots of some of the posts bearing Kuhns’ name show him claiming to be a police officer and threatening to taser a recipient of one message. The posts include threats toward Indigenous peoples and others, including a warning that he could make women “disappear without a trace.”
In a media release, the RCMP said the comments “constituted uttering threats of bodily harm and personation of a peace officer.”
Kuhns is to make his first court appearance in Melville on Sept. 16.
