A 19-year-old man is facing 35 charges after a Regina Police Service investigation into a recent string of stolen vehicles in the city.
The man was arrested Thursday morning in the 2000 block of Wallace Street, where the stolen vehicle he was driving caused damage to other vehicles as police officers attempted to stop him.
Before he was arrested, the man allegedly attempted to hide a modified, loaded gun. A search by officers turned up a .22-calibre rifle.
The arrest allowed officers to get a search warrant for an address in the 800 block of Victoria Avenue. There, officers found a stolen vehicle and other stolen property from a previous incident.
The charges against the suspect comprise six for possession of a stolen vehicle, four for possession of stolen property under $5,000 (including licence plates and various items), two for theft under $5,000 (specifically gasoline), two for possession of a stolen credit card, one for possession of an identity document belonging to another person, one for theft of a motor vehicle, and one for dangerous driving.
He also faces eight weapons charges as well as 10 charges for breach of probation.
Many of the charges stem from incidents that occurred between May 2 and Aug. 6.
