8:30 – The Ethics Commissioner’s report found Justin Trudeau broke conflict of interest law during the SNC-Lavalin scandal, but Trudeau has refused to apologize and maintained he was fighting for Canadian jobs. Many of his supporters agree that Trudeau did nothing wrong, notably the Toronto Star’s editorial board, and that’s got us wondering: will Trudeau apologize to Canadians for his ethics breach, or will he stick to his guns and never apologize for sticking up for jobs?
REALITY CHECK: Will Justin Trudeau apologize for breaking the Conflict of Interest Act?

10:00 – Jack Letts, AKA “Jihadi Jack,” the young British-Canadian held in a Kurdish prison accused of fighting for the Islamic State, lost his British citizenship over the weekend. The move was criticized by Canada’s Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale, who accused the UK of taking “unilateral action to off-load their responsibilities,” and said countries should work together on security matters. National security expert Christian Leuprecht says Canada made a mistake by getting rid of a legislative provision that let citizenship be stripped from dual citizens convicted of terrorism, as the UK is now passing the burden of dealing with Jack on to Canada. Leuprecht joins John now to discuss the case.

11:00 – The Saskatchewan Health Authority scrapped its plans for an anonymous “whistleblower” hotline which would let members of the public make anonymous reports after the local unions warned the hotline would create an “atmosphere of mistrust” and some called it an insult to their staff. Gormley took the same position, saying the line would be a way for people to anonymously complain without any potential consequence, when there are already legitimate avenues for a complaint. That’s got us wondering – are we becoming a society that avoids confrontation? Sure we’ll argue with strangers on Twitter, but when it comes to confronting face-to-face, would we rather be passive-aggressive? Have you seen any examples of people avoiding a confrontation only to leave a snippy review on Facebook after the fact? Give us a call at 1-877-332-8255 and let us know what you think!
