A third man has been arrested and charged in connection with an incident that occurred May 17 in Regina.
The Regina Police Service said in a media release Wednesday that Calvin Roy Sparvier, 23, was already in custody on other charges when he was arrested Tuesday. He was charged with attempted murder and two counts of breach of probation.
He was to appear in court Wednesday.
Two other men had been arrested previously for their alleged participation in the incident.
Jamie Rae Munro, 24, was arrested on July 3 and charged with attempted murder and driving while prohibited. He already has appeared in court and remains in custody.
Derrick Ewen Pasap, 27, was in jail when he was arrested June 5. He’s charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and breach of recognizance. He also has appeared in court on those charges.
The investigation began just after 3 a.m., on May 17 in an apartment in the 1200 block of Rae Street. Officers responding to a report of a stabbing found a 31-year-old victim who was transported to hospital by EMS.
Shortly afterwards, officers saw a Honda van that matched the description of a vehicle that had left the scene of the stabbing. The police couldn’t stop the van safely as it sped away.
The investigation eventually led police to the three men who have been charged.
