Six youths between the ages of 13 and 16 were arrested following two armed robberies in Regina early Wednesday.
The Regina Police Service say the teens — five girls and one boy — face a total of 24 charges in connection with the robberies.
Police say the first robbery occurred in the 3500 block of 13th Avenue at about 4 a.m. A 14-year-old girl told police that a group of youths — one of whom was carrying a gun — assaulted her and robbed her of a cellphone.
The victim was taken to hospital by paramedics.
The second robbery occurred at about 4:30 a.m., in the area of 14th Avenue and Retallack Street.
A 20-year-old female and a 15-year-old female were walking in the area when they were approached by two female youths and a boy. He allegedly pointed a gun at the victims, who were assaulted and robbed of personal possessions.
Officers searched the area and found three girls who were detained. Police then went to a home in the 2200 block of Rae Street, where two more females and a male were found. Officers also located a loaded, sawed-off .22 calibre rifle.
The accused can’t be named according to the Youth Criminal Justice Act. They appeared in Youth Court on Thursday.
