Saskatchewan jury members will be making a little extra money next month.
The jury allowance is being bumped up to $110 per day in both civil and criminal trials.
The change is effective Sept. 1.
Before the new policy, jurors in criminal trials made $80 every day. Civil trials only paid out $15.
The provincial government is also adding a payment for people with children or dependents.
The government will give up to $40 a day for childcare and $80 to cover care for the elderly and other dependents.
However, it’s not all increases. The government will be cutting the current $15 allowance it gives out at the jury selection process in civil trials.
