One of the oldest sayings in sports is “good teams find a way to win.”
That could be said about both the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers leading into the back-to-back matchups which start Sunday at Mosaic Stadium.
Not many would have thought that Cody Fajardo would have the Riders on a five-game winning streak with his limited time as a starting quarterback.
The West Division-leading Bombers found a way to win on the weekend without Matt Nichols at quarterback. Chris Streveler is good, but one has to admit that it was unconventional to watch the Bombers beat Edmonton with a quarterback who rushed for more yards than he threw for.
On Monday, word broke that Winnipeg’s leading rusher, Andrew Harris, will face a two-game suspension for violating the league-players’ association drug policy. Members of Rider Nation may see this distraction as a benefit to their team, but remember the Bombers are 8-2 and have not lost to a West Division opponent in 2019.
