The provincial and federal governments announced funding Thursday for 13 infrastructure projects across Saskatchewan.
Part of the funding is destined for two water and wastewater projects that will serve nine communities in northern Saskatchewan: Creighton, Cumberland House, Denare Beach, Green Lake, Île-à-la-Crosse, Michel Village, Buffalo Narrows, Timber Bay and Weyakwin.
In a media release, the provincial government said those communities “will soon benefit from new or upgraded drinking water and wastewater systems that will increase service reliability and provide high-quality drinking water to an increased number of households and businesses.”
Money also will go toward a variety of water, wastewater, waste management and road infrastructure projects in Langenburg, Kerrobert, Francis, Waldheim, Duck Lake, Battleford, Shaunavon, Drake, the rural municipalities of Foam Lake and Browning, and the Highway 55 Waste Management Corporation.
The federal government is investing more than $17.6 million and the province is putting up more than $16.8 million. Funding recipients also have to contribute, bringing the total to more than $50 million.
