Can we call the Banjo Bowl Saskatchewan’s dose of reality?
Every team, championship or otherwise, goes through a turbulent time in the course of a football season.
Yes, a 25-point loss in Week 13 put the Roughriders and Rider Nation in a very bad mood. This might not be a bad thing. The loss wasn’t an upset. The Riders lost to the West Division leaders. Looking ahead, the Riders still have a chance to win the season series against the Blue Bombers.
On Tuesday, quarterback Cody Fajardo said his teammates were smiling again and ready to return to football, while the football operations department prepares to deploy the talented Jordan Williams-Lambert at receiver and utilize defensive lineman Chad Geter. Perhaps they didn’t take their A Game to Winnipeg, but the players have won six of seven games, while the front office has bolstered the lineup.
It sometimes takes time to build confidence after a loss, but for this football team, restoring the A Game may not be that difficult.
