Saskatoon police have restricted a section of downtown Saskatoon after a suspicious package was left in the area Sunday evening.
In a media release, police said a suspicious package left in the vicinity of 21st Street and 2nd Avenue was reported just after 5 p.m.
The explosives disposal unit was called to the scene.
Traffic is restricted on 2nd Avenue between 21st Street and 22nd Street.
Man barricades himself inside home with gun
In the same news release, police said they responded to a weapons call in the 300 block of Avenue T South around 2:20 p.m.
Once officers arrived, they noticed a man who had barricaded himself inside a home with a gun.
The tactical support unit is currently on scene, along with crisis negotiators.
Traffic in that area is also restricted on Avenue T — between 19th Street and 20th Street — as well as 19th Street between Avenue U and Avenue S.
Police haven’t said if the two incidents are connected.
