One of the NFL’s biggest jokes in recent seasons has become one of the best teams to watch. I carved out some time for the Cleveland Browns’ 20-point win over the Jets on Monday night.
Last year we learned that Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield had a tremendous upside. His TD-to-interception ratio was 27 to 14 in 2018, and the Cleveland quarterback actually threw for more yards than former Super Bowl-champion quarterback Russell Wilson. This year that ratio is 2 to 4, but there is a lot of football to go in 2019.
Mayfield’s second-half, 89-yard touchdown strike to Odell Beckham Jr. in Cleveland’s 23-3 win over the Jets was spectacular. To further make my point, the Browns were 7-8-1 last season, Mayfield’s first. Prior to that, Cleveland had won just four games combined over three seasons. (2015, 2016 and 2017).
Times are changing, and while the Browns are by no means the New England Patriots, they are a team you may want to set some time aside for on any given Sunday.
