An investigation that has been more than a year in the making, according to Regina police, has ended with a 70-year-old man being charged on a dozen counts — all having to do with stolen vehicles or parts.
Originally, police say they were investigating in connection to four stolen vehicles, starting from June of last year.
Officers moved in and arrested the suspect on Tuesday.
According to police, the man — who hails from Saskatchewan Beach — had a fifth vehicle, stolen from Calgary, in his possession when he was arrested.
Officers searched the vehicle dealership and rental company with which the man was associated, near Dewdney Avenue and Robinson Street in the North Central neighbourhood. There, the officers allegedly found more stolen vehicle parts.
The man is facing 12 charges, including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and under $5,000, trafficking in property obtained by crime, and tampering with a vehicle’s VIN.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
