The Indian Head RCMP is investigating a recent incident in Montmartre involving a man who allegedly posed as a SaskPower employee in an attempt to get into a house.
According to a media release from the RCMP, the incident happened Sept. 3, when a Caucasian man appeared at a home in Montmartre claiming to be a SaskPower employee. He had a lanyard around his neck containing an ID card.
The man said he had received an email from the homeowners with a request to repair the home’s outlets, lights and switches.
But the homeowners hadn’t made such a request and, when they wouldn’t let the man in, he said he had made a mistake. Police say he left in a brown SUV marked with SaskPower logos.
The RCMP contacted SaskPower officials, who said that they hadn’t sent anyone to the house and that its employees use only white vehicles. They also reminded residents that the work the man mentioned is done by electricians, not by SaskPower employees.
Anyone who sees or encounters such suspicious activity is asked to contact the RCMP or their local police.
