Simoni Lawrence has to feel the wrath of the commissioner of the CFL yet again.
Remember when Lawrence claimed he was a clean player? Well, he’ll have to rewrite his resume. Lawrence knocked Zach Collaros out of playing this season, he has had other questionable hits, illegally and dangerously twisted the leg of running Terry Williams two weeks ago and in his most recent act of dirty play, he took a cheap shot on Edmonton quarterback Logan Kilgore.
Lawrence has been suspended for two games for the Collaros hit, which at the time was unprecedented. He was fined for the ankle twist last week and now the question is whether the league wants to send another message to Lawrence.
Indeed it should. And it should be even harsher than his original two-game suspension.
If Lawrence can’t play within the rules, he doesn’t deserve to play, and anything less than a two-game suspension feels like Lawrence is being let off easy.
