A sharp cold front is moving through Saskatchewan, bringing with it a mix of rain and snow depending on where you are.
Terri Lang with Environment Canada said the system started in Alberta and is working its way east.
“It starts as rain, and quickly changes to snow, and that combined with the wind is really reducing visibility with snow and blowing snow,” Lang said. “As well, the issue is temperatures that are falling below freezing, so that’s going to make for some slippery roads out there.”
Lang said the hardest-hit areas will be the southwest and the southeastern parts of the province.
“Five to 10 centimetres (of snow) is possible in Cypress Hills and another five to 10 in that southeast corner by the end of the day Wednesday,” said Lang.
As for Saskatoon and Regina, Lang said there shouldn’t be much snow to record, possibly a couple of centimetres, depending on how much melting there is. She added that precipitation should taper off by Tuesday evening.
