Late Tuesday afternoon, big fluffy flakes of snow started flying through the air in Regina, though the blanket of white that tucks in the city every winter is a ways off yet.
Sarah Hoffman with Environment Canada said a cold front that brought snow to the mountains in Alberta had started moving through Saskatchewan.
But, Hoffman said, the snow won’t stick around.
“Temperatures are above zero at this time and we’re expecting not a lot of that snow to stick around, so we could have some reduced visibilities and some heavier pockets of the falling snow, but we’re not expecting accumulations in any of those areas to exceed two centimetres,” said Hoffman.
On Tuesday afternoon, Hoffman said the snow was expected to continue, off and on, through the night and into Wednesday morning — though the wind was expected to have calmed down from 50-kilometre-per-hour gusts to 30 km/h by then.
Hoffman said Tuesday’s snow was the only snow expected for the week.
“We have a building ridge of warm air move in which should bring in some still sub-seasonal, but some warmer temperatures than we’ve been seeing,” said Hoffman.
She explained seasonal temperatures for this time of year are about 13 C, while the best Regina and area were expected to get for the rest of the week is on Sunday at 9 C.
