There has been one name that resonates in Toronto when it comes to CFL football. Michael (Pinball) Clemons.
The diminutive running back made highlight-reel plays during his time winning Grey Cups in Toronto; then he coached the Argonauts. He has been an ambassador for the Argos and the Canadian Football League in Toronto, but he has been in the shadows for the past little while.
And the Argos have never found a face of the franchise that got people to the park.
Clemons is now again the face of the franchise and that should be a good thing for a team that needs a person who can sell the team, have people believe in the brand and is recognizable.
And Clemons is generational. He has spoken to so many Ontario students who know who Pinball Clemons is.
The move by the Argos is a good one on that side of marketing, but they need to win. The franchise has only one winning season in the last six years and only six wins in the last two.
Clemons is a great motivator, communicator and personality. Now we’ll find out if he can be a general manager.
