Frost, rain and snow continue to keep harvest in Saskatchewan from making progress.
The provincial government’s weekly report shows that only 55 per cent of crops are in the bin. The five-year average for this time of year is 82 per cent. Twenty-nine per cent is swathed or ready to straight-cut.
The Moosomin area got the most moisture last week, with 20 millimetres of rainfall.
Most farmers are waiting for the weather to improve so they can get back on the field.
According to the report, many wet crops are damaged. There are reports of crops sprouting, bleaching and staining. Wild animals are also eating swathed crops.
The government said warm, dry weather is needed to get harvest back into full swing.
